Overview
Business Performance and Finance Analyst — Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Full-time role based at Chevron's Brisbane head office. This position reports to the Business Performance and Finance Manager and provides timely counsel to business partners, investigates issues, and supports decision-making and reporting in line with US GAAP and Chevron policy.
Responsibilities
* Timely and accurate completion of management reports in line with US GAAP and Chevron Group Policy and financial statements complying with Australian Accounting Standards.
* Collaborate with Finance Shared Services teams (Manila) and other parts of the business to coordinate accounting processes and recording of transactions, including charge-out across segments.
* Drive positive decision making through financial analyses and insights.
* Coordinate responses to finance-related questions from local Business Units, regional, and global teams.
* Support finance activities including leases, fixed assets, cash & bank, inventory management, payroll, and indirect tax lodgments (Excise, PAYG, Payroll Tax, GST and FBT).
* Support SOX compliance and work with internal audit teams to ensure controls are functioning correctly.
* Participate in and support reporting requirements, including ABS lodgments and completion of annual external audits.
* Promote and leverage technology tools, dashboards, and other digital accelerators to improve business partnering and enhance insight and transparency.
About You / Qualifications
* Degree in accounting, commerce, or business. Completion of the CPA or CA is an advantage.
* Ideally minimum 2 years' experience from a Big 4 Chartered Accounting environment.
* Practicing knowledge of accounting policies/procedures (including US GAAP, Australian Accounting Standards, revenue recovery, inventory accounting, lease accounting, fixed assets, tax accounting).
* Demonstrated experience in using accounting software (e.g. SAP), Oracle Essbase.
* Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI for data analytics and modelling; ability to design dashboards and business reports is advantageous.
* Ability to analyze financial information, identify variance drivers, and provide actionable recommendations.
* Strong collaboration skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners.
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, set priorities, and implement process improvements; capable of leading projects and influencing others.
* Clear communication skills to present findings to stakeholders and translate policies into actionable recommendations.
* Experience with internal controls and compliance topics such as Sarbanes-Oxley controls assessments.
* Experience leveraging emerging technologies to enhance business processes.
