Overview
The Drama Faculty at Hunter Valley Grammar School has a reputation as one of the leading Drama programs in the Hunter region and beyond. We are seeking a professional, theatrically knowledgeable, and highly skilled specialist teacher to teach individual drama lessons, contribute to the co-curricular drama program and support classroom drama, Years K to 12. The position requires experience, commitment, proven collaborative skills and evidence of success and strategies in teaching vocal performance skills, stage-craft and acting. Experience in developing the Individual Project within the HSC Drama Course is preferred.
This permanent part-time role will require the successful applicant to help design and implement IB and NESA classroom teaching programs, effectively collaborate with other Drama faculty staff and specialist teachers as part of a high-quality Performing Arts team culture.
Further, the successful applicant will provide purposeful contribution to a significant co-curricular Drama Program (K-12), actively support the well-being of all students, contribute to the annual school musical production, and engage in the variety of regular school performances.
Work Pattern
Work Pattern: This position is a permanent, part-time role, working 15.2 hours per week Monday and Tuesday 8:00am to 4:06 pm with a 30-minute lunch break during term time only.
Key Duties
* Teach individual lessons to facilitate the development of acting, vocal and performance/presentation skills for students across K-12 as determined by the applicable timetable (inclusive of allowances for co-curricular engagement)
* Contribute to the development and implementation of the co-curricular Drama program of the School
* Facilitate the implementation of Trinity College London syllabi and examination of Trinity certification and diplomas for students K-12
* Foster a commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration and sharing of knowledge and information with colleagues
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders
* Display a strong dedication to customer service; communicate effectively and professionally in a timely manner to parents
* Actively promote HVGS in a positive manner within the community
* Collaborate effectively and respectfully in the preparation and support of students for the HSC Drama Individual Projects
* Be competent in the use of educational and administrative software programs
* Contribute to the development of the Drama curriculum across the school, including musical performances
* Collaboratively plan, prepare, and execute performances showcasing individual students and ensembles
* Demonstrate high levels of effective and respectful collaborative skills to contribute to the faculty goals and directions
* Maintain a professional awareness of the educational, social, and emotional needs of students
* Be proactive in providing an academically engaging, challenging, rewarding, stimulating and safe environment where students are enthused about the study of Drama
* Actively support student engagement in service-learning program(s) of the School, both within the classroom and beyond it
* Attend all identified assemblies, carnivals, meetings, and Professional Learning days as scheduled
* Attend presentation ceremonies and other school functions as determined by the Principal, some which are outside of normal hours
* Actively support and demonstrate proficiency in the use of the School's Learning Management System as associated programs (e.g., Toddle, TASS and Microsoft Teams/OneNote)
* Have an active Professional Learning Plan and attend all required Professional Learning sessions
* Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the School's business
* Any other duties as directed by the Head of Faculty (Drama)
