About this role
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the operational and strategic management of hospital facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, building, and environmental standards. The role oversees infrastructure, building systems, grounds, essential services and contractor performance, while contributing to long-term planning and hospital projects. This position works collaboratively across all departments to ensure facilities support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
About You
You're an experienced and hands on facilities professional with proven expertise in managing complex environments, ideally within a hospital or healthcare setting. You understand the critical role facilities play in supporting patient care, and you bring a strong grasp of healthcare compliance, accreditation standards, and safety requirements. With excellent stakeholder management skills, you work effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure facilities operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You're someone who leads with integrity, gets things done, and puts people at the centre of your work.
Essential Criteria:
* Demonstrated experience in facilities management within healthcare or a similarly complex environment
* Strong knowledge of building systems, compliance, and maintenance planning
* Proven leadership and staff management experience
* Budget, cost control of operational & capital works and contract management expertise
* Experience managing contractors, vendor relationships, and service contracts
* Familiarity with CMMS and Building Management Systems
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
* Tertiary qualification in engineering, technical trade, building services, facilities management, with substantial facilities management experience
Desirable:
* Extensive experience managing facilities in a hospital, healthcare or highly regulated setting.
* Project management experience, including capital works delivery
* Professional membership with the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA Australia) or equivalent
