Ecology Leadership Role
We are seeking a dynamic professional to lead our Queensland ecology practice, offering flexible location options between Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. In this role, you will effectively balance team leadership with project delivery, encompassing approximately 60% of your responsibilities.
As a recognized technical expert in WSP Ecology and the broader industry, you will leverage your knowledge to drive complex projects forward, collaborate with industry leaders and client managers, and contribute to shaping market strategies.
You will provide high-quality ecological advice across all stages of infrastructure and natural resource projects, from early constraints and biodiversity surveys to impact assessments, offsets, and management plans.
Additionally, you will support and mentor your team, foster innovative thinking to drive strong conservation outcomes, and be part of a large national network of ecologists and specialists working on diverse projects across renewables, infrastructure, mining, and conservation.
The ideal candidate will possess significant field experience in rehabilitation monitoring, protected plants and marine plant surveys, threatened ecological community verification, ecological data collection and analysis, managing field teams, etc., as well as experience in developing re-vegetation and vegetation management plans, field verification and GIS mapping of vegetation communities / regional ecosystems, and managing spatial datasets.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge of Queensland regional ecosystem framework and Commonwealth environmental offset policies and associated guidelines, exhibit technical writing skills and ability to interpret legislation and policy, and showcase a passion for ecology, conservation, biodiversity and natural resources management.
