Description:
Zenith is seeking Electrical Engineers of all levels with expertise in Electrical Design and Construction. We encourage applications from both senior professionals with extensive experience and engineers eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
Reporting directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the ideal candidate will play a vital role in designing projects, supporting site installations, and commissioning hybrid off-grid power stations that utilise both renewable and thermal energy sources. This is a Perth-based role with occasional site visits.
Responsibilities Will Include:
Developing High and Low Voltage Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and Detailed Schematic Controls. Specify and select Medium-Voltage (MV) and Low-Voltage (LV) Switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Circuit Breakers, Transformers, and Variable-Speed Drives. Review specifications for transformers, MV and LV switchboards, Ring Main Units (RMUs), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Wind Turbines, Solar Photovoltaics (PVs), Inverters, and Medium Voltage kiosk substations. Size and select cables, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and battery chargers, and calculate load demands. Oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems. Analyze High- and Low-Voltage Systems, including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Controls, Protection, and Earthing. Provide technical guidance and problem-solving for electrical challenges encountered on-site. Develop testing and commissioning plans and procedures. Review high-voltage (HV) submissions and coordinate with construction and commissioning teams. Collaborate with vendors to evaluate proposals and document the design processes. Compile necessary documentation from vendors.
About You:
As the Electrical Engineer, you will bring the following qualifications, experience, knowledge, and skills to the role.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience in electrical design and construction within a heavy industrial environment, preferably involving the design of remote power stations or mine site plants. Strong understanding of current Australian and international standards. Highly developed communication skills, enabling effective interaction at all levels. Excellent attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to electrical systems. Knowledge of protection systems, power systems, and earthing is desirable. Experience in high- or medium-voltage substation design is desirable. Expertise in network communication architecture is desirable.
