About the role
We are currently hiring fixed plant mechanical maintainers for permanent positions at our Newman operations. Working in a team of mechanical maintainers and reporting to the Supervisor Fixed Plant Maintenance, you will be responsible for carrying out preventive, reactive and planned maintenance tasks to support plant availability in the field. With the support of a strong and proactive management team, engineers, electricians and all of BHP's resources, you have the ability to continually learn and develop in your career and make a difference to our operation.
These are residential roles based on even‐time rosters (day & night shift).
In this role you will:
* Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
* Maintain a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environment
* Undertake preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with maintenance planning systems and recommend appropriate follow‐up action
* Repair and service fixed plant equipment, attend breakdowns and maintain plant availability
* Collaborate to fault‐find equipment in breakdown situations
* Carry out all activities within the whole‐of‐job scope, including pre‐work, preparation of JHAs, organizing materials, execution, testing and completion of tasks
* Ensure operational discipline in 1SAP Work Management practices, from raising notifications to executing work orders on both planned and unplanned situations
Location
You will be based in Newman, Western Australia on a lifestyle roster pattern. You will be working at the closely located Mount Whaleback mine site, which is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide and is the biggest single‐pit open‐cut iron ore mine in the world. The 5,000‐strong population of Newman enjoys well‐established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and unique landscapes. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About you
* Australian recognised mechanical trade with experience in fixed plant, mechanical fitters, boilermakers or other mechanical trades with fixed plant experience accepted
* Minimum C Class Driver's License – essential
* Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safe systems of work
* Hydraulics experience desirable
* Previous plant maintenance roles desirable
* Experience with 1 SAP or similar systems is highly advantageous but not essential
* Ability to adapt and work within planned or breakdown maintenance environments
* Proactive with belief in the value that maintenance can bring to an organisation
* Team focused and able to work collaboratively
* Self‐motivated and comfortable working autonomously when needed
