Guidance Officers are specialist teachers who work with students, teachers and parents to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service. They use their expertise to support students' learning, wellbeing and leadership, and help them achieve positive educational, developmental and lifelong outcomes.
About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the North Queensland Region, where you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students. As a Guidance Officer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working with parents, school personnel and external agencies to provide a comprehensive support service to students.
You will be responsible for conducting activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment to determine the nature of student learning difficulties or psychological status. You will then use this information to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.
In addition to your technical skills, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers and parents.
* Developing and implementing strategic plans, programs and initiatives to support students' learning, wellbeing and leadership
* Providing counselling and referral services to assist students in decision making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional and career development
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive support service to students
