Position: Youth Adventure Facilitator (Homeschool Program)
Location: Byron Bay, NSW
Pay: $40/hr
Hours: 9am – 2pm (5-hour shifts), 1 to 5 days per week
Term-based contract: Ongoing opportunities
About the Role
Join a bold, purpose-driven team that's reshaping youth mentoring in Australia. As an Adventure Minds facilitator, you won't just run activities — you'll mentor young people aged 9–12 or 13–18 in outdoor, adventure-based, real-world environments. Each week, you'll guide the same group of homeschool students through excursions that challenge their confidence, discipline, teamwork, and self-awareness.
You'll be leading powerful group experiences — from kayaking and hiking to escape rooms and ice baths — while also building meaningful relationships through weekly check-ins, group debriefs, and reflection sessions. This is not a typical "kids activities" job. This is about stepping into a leadership role, being a mentor, and making a genuine impact.
What You'll Be Doing
* Facilitating weekly 5-hour sessions during school terms
* Leading groups through exciting outdoor & indoor activities such as:
* Hiking, beach trips, paddleboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, tree-top courses, and more
* Indoor escape rooms, laser skirmish, indoor skydiving, and more
* Guiding simple group debriefs and mentorship conversations
* Helping co-create term plans with the leadership team
* Participating in a group facilitator chat for weekly updates and parent communication
* Working either solo (as a Lead) or alongside a Co-Facilitator depending on group size
What We're Looking For
* A current Blue Card (or willingness to obtain one)
* A current Yellow Card (or willingness to obtain one)
* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to become certified)
* Experience working with groups of young people (essential)
* A health-oriented lifestyle — you enjoy being active and outdoors
* Access to reliable transport (a car is strongly preferred)
* Availability to commit to the same weekly group for the full term
* Confidence in leading group conversations and being a positive role model
Training & Support Facilitators will receive both formal and informal onboarding, including face-to-face and online training, system walk-throughs, and planning tools. Ongoing support is provided throughout the term. We're building a team of people who feel like family — and we host optional social meetups to keep our community tight.
Growth Opportunities Adventure Minds is growing fast. Facilitators who thrive will have the opportunity to:
* Lead multiple groups and increase their hours
* Receive advanced in-house training and leadership mentoring
* Be considered for future franchise opportunities as we expand
