We are looking for an experienced Transition Officer to join the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre.
As the Transition Officer, you will work collaboratively with the Manager - Transitions and Partnerships and key stakeholders from interdepartmental agencies to assist young people in successfully transitioning from a youth detention facility to employment, training or educational pathways in the community.

About the School
QETC is a multi-campus Department of Education school operating within South-East Queensland's Youth Detention Centres at Wacol. QETC is a school that caters to male and female students from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences. The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and values to pursue positive choices in the future.
About the Role
As a Transition Officer, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to assist young people in successfully transitioning from youth detention to an education, training or employment. The Transition Officer collaborates with a range of stakeholders, including students and carers, Queensland Government partner agencies, and agencies from the broader service system.
Transition Officer duties include establishing rapport and maintaining resilient relationships with students to motivate their engagement in learning, collaborating with stakeholders, developing transition plans, case-noting, attending case reviews and stakeholder meetings and corresponding with a range of parties to support destination planning. The Transition Officer is responsible for meeting placement and outcome targets by successfully engaging and supporting students to transition into education and employment and sustaining their placement post-detention. Our Transition Officers work across all three QETC campuses.
Your Responsibilities
As the Transition Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Plan and facilitate the transition to employment, training and/or educational settings for students in youth detention in collaboration with students and relevant stakeholders.
Establish rapport and maintain resilient relationships with students to motivate their engagement in learning, as appropriate to student's individual circumstances, to enable successful transition plan outcomes.
* Be accountable for assigned cases to progress transition plans, including undertaking appropriate case management, advocacy and support, prioritising daily caseload, communicating with transition partners and students and implementing agreed approaches.
* Communicate expectations of the transition program with students and stakeholders as required to develop their understanding of career and learning pathways and promote the importance of continued education for students while in detention.
* The successful applicant will be able to implement strategies and programs to improve the transition outcomes of young people who may have had varied schooling experiences and a proven capacity to work effectively with them to address their future learning, training and employment pathways.
