Job Description
Join the dynamic team at Motorola Solutions as an Operations Engineer. You will provide high quality technical and operational support for customer infrastructure and subscriber technologies/systems supplied by Motorola Solutions, and provide technical excellence and leadership to other members of the project & operations engineering and Support Services group ensuring total customer satisfaction and compliance to contractual key performance indicators.
Key Responsibilities
* Primarily responsibility for the overall technical operation and maintenance of systems and subsystems of the P25 system for Queensland GWN, with a strong focus on supporting the subscriber technical solutions and operations.
* Drive and manage a standardised process of codeplug development and regression testing, ensuring quality of these items is maintained, recorded and reported based upon a National approach.
* Manage and be the contact point for problem, case and issue management based upon a National approach.
* Provide product technical support for customers, internal and external stakeholders to meet defined requirements.
Oversee design of changes to equipment systems integration and introduction of new products.
* Provide support as required to P25 and associated Core systems and Remote Sites, Console Dispatch System, Voice/Telephony Logging Systems associated LAN/WANs, external interfaces and Network Management Systems.
* Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of radio and application network.
* Participate as required in regular on call roster for after-hours call out to resolve urgent system problems.
The on call component is a rotating roster shared with other engineers.
* Support after hours planned maintenance and system upgrade activities.
* Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
* Ensure supported system installation and configuration is in accordance with documentation and Motorola Quality Installation Standards.
* Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other applicable management staff.
Education & Qualifications
Essential: Tertiary Qualifications in Electronics / Computer Systems Engineering or similar (Extensive industry experience will be considered as an alternative).
Highly Desirable: Telecommunications, Land Mobile Radio (LMR) ITIL Foundation certificate Microsoft Certified or similar.
Additional network or server management qualifications (or significant industry experience) Professional Experience Essential: Minimum 3 years in an Engineering or equivalent role implementing and/or supporting Astro P25 systems or telecommunications networks; Experience with administration configuration, fault finding and maintenance of networks, LAN, WAN, routers, switches, servers, workstations and applications; Proven interpersonal skills in interfacing with customers, staff, management and vendors.
Desirable: Experience with Motorola Astro P25 voice radio systems; Experience with public safety grade encryption systems configuration, implementation and operation; Software/firmware regression testing experience; Codeplug development/management experience; Experience in a communications operations or network operations environment.
