The Payments Software Engineering team resides in the Payments Service Utility. Its purpose is to restore the trust of our customers by transforming the Payments services experiences provided by the Bank to 99.999% availability, greater agility, and reliability.
Our team is composed of engineers and technology leaders, who bring in the right mix of skills to enable this transformation. We also work very closely with our business and operations colleagues to support these critical services for the Australian and Global economy.
You will be reporting directly to the Engineering Chapter Lead and indirectly to the Delivery Manager and Product Owner.
Technical Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. You don’t need to know them all, but experience or exposure to some of these (or equivalents) will help you succeed in this team:
1. Application development experience using TypeScript and REST APIs.
2. Sound knowledge of OAuth2 and MTLS.
3. Serverless computing using AWS (AWS Lambda, API Gateway, IAM Roles & Policies, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB).
4. Infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or SST.
5. Experience working in a DevOps environment and contributing to CI/CD pipelines.
6. Microservices architecture, design patterns, and best practices in software programming.
7. Knowledge of Pub-Sub and streaming technologies such as SQS, SNS, Kafka, and Kinesis.
8. Monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk and CloudWatch.
9. Experience in performance tuning for high throughput and resilient applications.
10. Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is desirable.
11. Banking and Payments domain knowledge is desirable.
