About the Role
This is a critical position in our organization, focused on ensuring the health and safety of our team members and the wider community.
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mine Safety Officer to join our team. As an electrical engineer with extensive experience in mining, you will play a key role in implementing effective risk management strategies and incident prevention techniques across the NSW mining industry.
The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of best practice approaches and solutions given the variety of legislative requirements and rapid changes in technology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for exercising statutory and administrative responsibilities as an appointed government official to improve the health and safety performance at mines.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct site inspections, assessments, investigations of incidents, and complaints
* Apply compliance powers, consult, and educate
* Implement effective risk management and incident prevention strategies
Requirements
* Must hold a current Class C driver's license
* Be able to work on weekends and backshifts, and respond to incidents out of normal business hours on a rostered basis
* Possess qualifications required to exercise the statutory function of electrical engineering manager
