The Role
This permanent role is central to Pacific Blue's Retail function, providing advanced analytical insight and data visualisation support to drive commercial and operational performance. Working across the Retail business unit, the role is responsible for understanding business data needs and designing solutions that translate complex data into actionable insights.
Working closely with sales, marketing, operations, and finance stakeholders, the role will develop data models, dashboards, and reporting tools that support decision-making across the Retail function. The role will also partner with the Strategy & Solutions team to recommend and manage reporting tools and work closely with the Data Engineer to improve data quality and reporting processes.
A key focus of the role will be delivering insights across areas including compliance reporting, credit and collections performance, revenue and margin analysis, and broader Retail operational performance.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne.
What you'll be responsible for:
* Act as the primary data and visualisation partner across the Retail function.
* Analyse data across Retail operations and develop visual reports that support commercial and operational decision-making.
* Build and maintain data models that support business insights and reporting requirements.
* Develop dashboards and reporting tools that support compliance reporting, operational performance, and financial insights.
* Analyse credit and collections performance, including portfolio risk, recovery trends, and early warning indicators.
* Provide insights into revenue performance, margin trends, pricing impacts, and revenue leakage.
* Partner with the Strategy & Solutions team to recommend, implement, and manage reporting tools as the ongoing business owner.
* Work closely with the Data Engineer to support data integrity and improve reporting processes.
* Generate insights that support Retail and broader Pacific Blue performance, including sales, marketing, operational performance, budgeting, and strategic planning.
* Ensure compliance with the Company's obligations, with particular focus on data protection, cyber security, and responsibilities outlined in the Register of Compliance Obligations.
Knowledge and experience:
* At least five years of relevant experience – analytics, IT or commercial.
* Preferably tertiary qualified in a numerate or quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics and engineering.
* Energy industry experience (in Australia or internationally) is highly regarded, particularly in energy forecasting or market modelling.
Skills:
* Numeracy, including a sound grasp of the concepts of statistics and probability
* Ability to convey complex analytical requirements, results and insights clearly
* Skills in design, construction and operation of appropriate models to provide the insight required
* Highly competent with SQL query writing and interrogation of SQL Server databases
* Competent with PowerBI or any other BI applications
* Ability to work without close supervision and self-motivated through discovery and learning
* Programming skills: MATLAB, or some other programming language highly regarded
