The opportunity
This is a senior operational leadership role at one of Australia's most significant and long-established industrial processing operations (combination of mobile plant equipment and fixed processing equipment) – a high-volume, 24/7 site with a strong workforce and genuine strategic importance to the broader business.
This role carries real weight. You will hold statutory responsibility at the top of the operational chain, lead a sizeable team across multiple crews, and have direct accountability for significant production and budget targets.
About the role
You will lead all aspects of a complex, multi-stream industrial operation – ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of production targets day in, day out.
This is not a desk role. You will be a visible, present leader across a 24/7 operation, close to your team and close to the work.
You will manage a highly experienced, long-tenured workforce, balancing strong employee engagement with the accountability and performance focus the business needs.
The business is investing in leadership depth at this site. There is a genuine, supported pathway to a senior site leadership role within three to five years – this is a succession-focused appointment, not a maintenance hire.
Key responsibilities
* Hold statutory operational responsibility and ensure full regulatory and safety compliance across the site
* Lead production planning and execution across a complex, multi-stream operation to meet annual targets
* Lead, develop and engage a large, experienced workforce operating across rotating shift crews
* Drive equipment availability and oversee maintenance scheduling in partnership with relevant teams
* Own operational cost targets and contribute to capital and budget management
* Build and sustain a high-performance, safety-first culture across all work groups
* Drive continuous improvement through data-informed decision making and structured problem solving
* Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies
* Develop your team leaders and build succession capability across the operation
About you
You are a commercially-minded, data-driven operational leader who thrives in complex, high-volume environments. You understand that the people on the floor are experts in their work – your role is to set the plan, remove the obstacles and hold the team to account.
* Significant experience in heavy industrial operations, with a proven track record leading large teams at a senior level
* Direct experience managing an industrial workforce is essential – you are comfortable navigating the nuances of a unionised environment
* Background in mining or resources is preferred, though we will consider strong operational leaders from large-scale heavy industry or processing environments
* Financially literate – comfortable with budget ownership, cost management and operational reporting
* A strong communicator who can build trust across an experienced, long-tenured workforce while driving meaningful change
* Ambitious – you are looking for a role that genuinely sets you up for the next step, not just the next job
What's on offer
* A competitive remuneration package including a short-term performance incentive
* A genuine, supported pathway into senior site leadership within three to five years
* The backing of a large national business with long-term commitment to this asset
* A skilled, high-tenure team that takes real pride in what they do
* Relocation package on offer for the successful candidate
