Job Description – Head of Product Management
Location: Remote/Serviced Office (Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane)

Position Purpose
The Head of Product Management is responsible for defining and executing SwitchDin’s product strategy and roadmap across software and edge systems for distributed energy resource (DER) management. The role ensures that SwitchDin’s product lines continue to lead the market in enabling robust operations of commercial sites, behind-the-meter site optimisation, DER communications stack for DNSPs/DSOs, and Flexible Connections.
The Head of Product Management will provide the strategic leadership and operational discipline to align market, company and engineering objectives into clear, scalable product direction. Their experience will bring a boost to our product marketing, product development and company strategy. They will champion a product-first mindset across the business while establishing frameworks that help us scale customer value across Australia and the world.
Working closely with the CTO and Executive Team, the Head of Product Management will be the shining light across the company in the product management discipline.
Key Accountabilities
1. Product Strategy and Vision: Set a long-term product vision and roadmap aligned with the global energy market, translating market analysis and insights into actionable strategies. Focus on productisation of core IP, cohesive narratives, while operating at a strategic, cross-functional level. Prepare for international readiness.
2. Product Marketing: Develop a deep understanding of market segments, engage with customers/partners to validate direction, act as the voice of the customer in decision-making, and maintain awareness of competitors, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
3. Product Roadmap, Delivery and Enablement: Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, establish suitable working frameworks, prioritise value increments for timely and high-quality deliveries and maintain product roadmaps. Build the go-to-market plan, commercial models, and enablement material for sales, partnerships and customer success teams. Continually iterate.
4. Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Product Management and Solution Architect team. Establish best-practice frameworks, and act as a cultural catalyst for product-led transformation.
5. Governance and Performance Management: Establish frameworks for prioritisation, resource allocation, and risk management. Report on product performance, manage product-related investments with the executive team, and ensure compliance with technical standards and security requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
* 8 years in product management or product leadership within software or SaaS environments, including 3+ years managing Product Managers.
* Proven experience in the energy, grid, DER, VPP or electrical utility sector.
* Strong understanding of the energy industry.
* Product marketing expertise to ensure the commercial and technical product implementations are driven from validated market needs.
* Demonstrated success in defining and delivering complex technical products to commercial outcomes.
* Comfortable aligning product strategy with evolving commercial models (licensing, subscription, or risk/revenue-share structures)
* Experience establishing and scaling product management capability and culture.
* Ability to manage ambiguity and bring about clarity.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, able to engage deeply with engineers, executives, and customers.
* Experience with edge computing, embedded systems or IoT device management.
* Familiarity with platform-based business models, APIs or partner ecosystems.
* Understanding of grid and DER regulatory environments (e.g., CER, EU flexibility markets, dynamic/flexible connections).
* Prior experience in a start-up or high-growth scale-up environment.
* International product experience or exposure to multiple regulatory markets.
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business.
