Several full time ongoing vacancies are available
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Community Development (DHLGCD) is dedicated to building stronger, more connected communities across the Northern Territory. Through innovative housing solutions, support for effective local governance, and initiatives that drive social and economic resilience, we work to enhance the wellbeing and opportunities of all Territorians. We take pride in our approach to addressing real Territory challenges and delivering meaningful outcomes that restore the Territory lifestyle by shaping a thriving and inclusive Territory. Be part of a dynamic and passionate organisation committed to improving the life outcomes of all Territorians, and shaping the Territory by fostering community growth, resilience, and inclusion.
As a Booking Officer with the Aboriginal Interpreter Service (AIS), you'll be the first point of contact for clients—providing clear advice on services, costs, and interpreter availability across languages and communities. You'll prioritise urgent requests and carefully match jobs with interpreters, always respecting cultural protocols and kinship ties.
As part of a collaborative team, you'll contribute to a 24-hour service through rostered shifts and on-call duties. Success depends on your ability to work with discretion and sensitivity when engaging with Aboriginal people, while confidently communicating and negotiating with clients and colleagues. Strong organisational, administrative, and IT skills are essential to manage competing priorities, databases, and electronic records with accuracy and efficiency. Cultural awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal languages and NT communities will be highly regarded.
Enjoy a role where your work makes a real difference every day. You'll receive on-the-job training in our systems and work workplace, plus ongoing professional development and the opportunity to build a long-term career with DHLGCD.
In addition to meaningful work, you'll enjoy a competitive package that includes 12% superannuation, six weeks recreation leave, three weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, three additional Christmas closedown days, flexible work options, and a supportive leadership team.
