Green Gold Energy delivers end-to-end renewable energy solutions across Utility Scale Solar Farms, C&I solar, battery storage (BESS), EV charging, and Microgrids, from feasibility and development through EPC and long-term O&M. Purpose
Lead the technical design, integration, and delivery support of microgrid and diesel displacement projects. You'll own the electrical/power-systems side of solution definition, integration engineering, and performance validation—ensuring systems are safe, stable, and operationally robust.
Key responsibilities
* Front-end engineering (FEED): Load profiling, site constraints review, single-line development, equipment selection, and system architecture (grid-tied, islanded, hybrid).
* Diesel displacement strategy: Define operating philosophies to reduce fuel while maintaining reliability (spinning reserve strategy, minimum genset loading, BESS firming, PV curtailment logic).
* Power systems & stability: Protection coordination, earthing philosophy, fault level assessment, dynamic behaviour considerations (especially for islanded operation).
* Controls/EMS integration: Specify control requirements (PV inverter controls, BESS inverter controls, genset controllers, synchronisation, droop/isochronous modes), and interface with EMS/SCADA providers.
* Integration engineering: Switchboard/switchgear, PCC configuration, transfer switching, synchronisation, metering, communications, and cyber-safe remote monitoring requirements.
* Performance modelling & verification: Energy yield/fuel saving estimates, BESS cycling assumptions, availability expectations, and commissioning acceptance criteria.
* Delivery support: Design reviews, FAT/SAT participation, commissioning support, as-built verification, and handover documentation.
* Operational optimisation: Post-commission tuning, alarms/controls refinement, operator training support, and performance reporting.
Required experience & capability
Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer (or equivalent).
2+ years in microgrids/hybrid power systems, with direct involvement in PV + BESS + diesel integration.
Strong understanding of:
* Islanded and grid-connected operation
* Genset constraints (min loading, ramp rates, maintenance regimes)
* Inverter-based resources behaviour and control modes
* Protection and switching (incl. synchronisation and transfer schemes)
Able to communicate clearly with field teams, OEMs, and clients; practical, delivery-oriented mindset.
Nice-to-have
* Experience with remote/off-grid sites (mining, regional utilities, agriculture).
* Familiarity with dynamic studies / PSCAD / DigSILENT (beneficial).
* Experience writing functional specs for EMS/SCADA and commissioning test plans.
* Exposure to "critical load" environments (data/compute, hospitals, critical infrastructure).
