Primary objective
The position is responsible for leading and managing the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), providing strategic
advice and support to the CEO, Deputy CEO/s and Executive Leadership Team, and driving initiatives, strategies and
projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a team to deliver high quality strategic support and advice to the CEO, Deputy CEO, agency executives
and Ministerial offices, and in the development of effective work practices, processes, procedures and structures that
enable timely, quality services and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
1. Provide expert advice to departmental staff and external stakeholders in relation to the provision of executive
administration support and coordination, the agency's strategic priorities, current challenges and adversities both internal
and external to the agency.
1. Manage a diverse and changing portfolio of projects and identify and bring forward advice and recommendations for the
resolution of emerging issues that adversely impact on the business unit or agency's operations.
1. Oversee, review and provide strategic advice on all internal CEO memoranda; Ministerial and Cabinet correspondence;
and other documents as required, to provide quality assurance for the CEO as the Accountable Officer.
1. Provide Secretariat support to the department's Executive Leadership Team and the CEO Coordination Committee, and
support the CEO and Deputy CEO during Ministerial and/or Cabinet related meetings as required.
1. Member of the agency's internal Strategic HR and Budgets Committee.
2. Build and maintain high level collaborative networks and relationships with senior departmental, ministerial, other
government agency staff, and external stakeholders, drawing on these relationships to facilitate outcomes.
8. Lead and coordinate the Office of the CEO's contribution to strategic plans, annual reports, and associated documents.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Establish and maintain an effective network of strategic alliances with key stakeholders across government, ministerial,
and external stakeholders, with a view to draw on these relationships to facilitate outcomes and manage high level and
complex projects effectively.
1. Provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive and the broader executive leadership group in order to drive strategic and
corporate outcomes.
1. Manage strategic and politically sensitive issues, lead and coordinate major projects of critical importance to the
Department and the Territory, and identify unresolved and/or emerging issues on behalf of the Chief Executive.
1. Demonstrated high level of judgement including the ability to work independently or as part of a team, to resolve
complex, sensitive and high-level matters.
1. High level organisational and communication skills, including the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and
manage competing and changing priorities.
1. Demonstrated leadership and performance management within a diverse, high-pressure team environment.
2. Extensive knowledge of Parliament, Cabinet and Northern Territory Government processes, protocols and administrative
arrangements.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or substantial progress towards achieving qualifications.
