About the Role
As a Trainee Case Manager, you’ll be supported through hands‑on training and mentoring to develop skills in managing workers’ compensation claims. You’ll act as a key contact for injured workers, employers, and healthcare providers, helping to coordinate care and facilitate return‑to‑work plans.
Responsibilities
* Assist in managing workers’ compensation claims from start to finish
* Communicate effectively with injured workers, employers, insurers, and healthcare professionals
* Support the coordination of medical and rehabilitation services
* Maintain accurate records and documentation
* Learn to navigate legal and medical frameworks related to workers’ compensation
Training
You will undergo 4 weeks' theoretical and practical training in workers’ compensation case management. During this time, you will learn about the life cycle of a claim, medical treatment types and appropriate management, payment of medical expenses, weekly compensation entitlements, return‑to‑work obligations, the legal side of workers’ compensation, and dealing with challenging conversations.
You will spend time working in a team developing the following skills:
* Arranging medical examinations
* Taking a high volume of client and customer calls
* Assessing and processing payments to stakeholders
* Developing case management strategies
* Reviewing and monitoring treatment requests
* Liaising with stakeholders (injured workers, employers, and providers)
Further training throughout your first 12 months' will be provided to expand your knowledge of workplace injury management, return‑to‑work planning, dispute resolution, and workers’ compensation law.
Who You Are / Qualifications
* Experienced in customer service, medical administration, or insurance claims, OR a recent graduate in Law, Business, Nursing, Allied Health, or Psychology
* Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
* Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage competing priorities
* Eager to learn and develop your career in case management
* Empathetic with a genuine interest in helping people recover and return to work
* Sensitivity to issues related to people with medical, cultural and social needs
* Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
