The Student Support Coordinator is an integral role in the School of Isolated and Distance Education's (SIDE) Referrals team, working closely with SIDE Regional Coordinators, Learning Area leaders and the School Psychology team to strengthen coordination practices and build staff capacity across the school. The Referrals program supports students with severe physical and mental health challenges and pregnant students wishing to continue their schooling in a highly supportive online environment.
This role supports the development of best practice in providing continuity of schooling for severely ill or pregnant students while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. The successful applicant will contribute to sophisticated workflows used to monitor students' academic progress and risk profiles. Mentoring, consultation and guidance around case management will be provided to support Regional Coordinators and Referrals Coordinators in responding to complex student needs. The coordinator will work effectively within a large and complex staffing profile, deliver high‐quality direction and support to parents, staff and students, and display leadership in whole‐school initiatives, particularly in the Referrals Program.
A significant component of the role involves leadership in case management: collaborating closely with the Referrals Coordinator, School Psychology Team, Partner School Case Managers and the SIDE Deputy Principal to support coordinated and effective case management processes. The coordinator will assist Learning Area leaders in planning processes for students and provide guidance on appropriate referrals to external agencies where additional support may be required. The applicant will play an important role in managing crisis, ensuring coordinated, timely and supportive responses to critical incidents involving students.
