System Security Specialist
This position serves as an Information Technology Professional analyzing and defining IT systems security requirements, implementing solutions, planning and tracking projects, and coordinating efforts in the areas of network security and interoperability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Applying business process engineering concepts and methods to lead or conduct studies; designing and implementing solutions to maintain and enhance the security of information systems and networks, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, port and VLAN level filtering, network monitoring, compliance tools, audit logging, password management, anti-spam and virus systems, patch management systems, and other related security systems and processes.
2. Developing policies and procedures to ensure reliability, accessibility, and prevent unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data; conducting risk and vulnerability assessments; and performing systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
3. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Five years of progressive experience performing related duties such as conducting end-to-end cybersecurity monitoring to identify and mitigate risks; identifying network improvements and making recommendations to enhance system security. Certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or CEH are preferred.
Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and software applications is essential for this role.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
