About the role
As the Track Supervisor, you are integral to the success of V/Line's Network Maintenance Group.
You'll report directly to the Regional Asset Manager and be responsible for managing a team and contractors to ensure the railway reserve, track, and sidings are maintained to the highest standards. You'll coordinate preventative, reactive, and corrective maintenance activities, certify track fit for traffic, and respond to emergencies—all while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key accountabilities include:
· Support the Regional Asset Manager in delivering asset renewal activities and maintaining compliance with maintenance standards and schedules.
· Prioritise, program, and supervise day and night track maintenance works
· Inspect track assets and recommend maintenance strategies
· Certify track fit for traffic following repairs or renewals as required
· Coordinate labour, plant, and materials to meet budget and timelines
· Respond to emergency repairs and manage after-hours incidents
· Ensure compliance with safety standards and contractual obligations
· Maintain accurate work records and oversee Infrastructure Management System entries
· Lead and mentor staff, fostering a strong team culture
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to minimise service disruptions
· Champion V/Line's values and safety-first approach across all activities
About you
You're a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of rail infrastructure and a passion for safety and performance. You thrive in dynamic environments, communicate clearly, and know how to get the best out of your team. You're ready to take ownership of your region and make a real impact.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
· Proven experience supervising track maintenance teams
· Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and asset performance
· Ability to manage rosters, resources, and emergency responses
· Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills
· Cert III Rail Infrastructure, Or PTC Legacy qualifications such as Road Foreman, Mobile Gangers, Special Gangers.
· Valid Driver's Licence
