About The Role
In this role, you will lead the preparation, management and implementation of structure plans, strategic plans, guidelines, policies and planning projects.

Temporary full time (10 months)
Classification:
Band 7 Commencing at $106,158 pa + super (pro rata)
Key responsibilities
Manage and action the preparation and processing of planning scheme amendments in accordance with relevant planning legislation.
Support and act as representative of the Coordinator Strategic Planning as directed.
Identify opportunities and solutions to issues that may impact on the operation, direction and activities of the Strategic Planning Unit.
Represent the Strategic Planning Unit on internal and external groups as required.
Prepare and review project briefs, funding submissions, Council reports and briefing papers and other reports as required.
Review, analyse and comment on documents provided by officers, consultants and external sources.
Provide an information base for Council, the community, government agencies, developers and the local business sector regarding strategic/structure plans and policies.
Provide effective community consultation including keeping the community engaged and informed.
About You
We are looking for a results oriented individual who works well with a team and has a genuine desire for great outcomes for the community.
Essential Skills and Experience
A tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Planning or related field.
Detailed knowledge and proven ability leading the preparation of strategic plans, guidelines, policies and manage a range of projects.
Knowledge of planning scheme amendment processes including strategic justification, development of new clauses, schedules and maps and planning scheme amendment procedures in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act and Victorian Planning Provisions.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical information into plain English.
Highly developed project management skills and 3-4 years of experience leading projects and teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage own and others' time to achieve project targets within a set timeline.
National Police Check may be required as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
