Encode Automation is growing and we are seeking an Automation Technician or Electricianto join our Northern Territory team.
This role supports the installation, maintenance, commissioning, and optimisation of industrial control and automation systems across a range of client environments.
This role is hands-on, working directly with automation systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automated processes.
You'll collaborate with the engineering, electrical, mechanical and project teams to deliver technically sound solutions that meet strict standards for quality, safety, and performance.

Core Responsibilities
Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and technical manuals to support installation and troubleshooting.
Install, configure, and commission a range of industrial automation and electrical control systems.
Integrate instrumentation, drives, sensors, actuators, radios, and associated field hardware into control systems.
Assist with commissioning activities for PLC, SCADA, HMI, communication networks, and field instrumentation.
Identify, diagnose, and rectify faults within automation and control systems to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Carry out preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and performance checks to ensure ongoing system efficiency.
Prepare accurate documentation, commissioning records, service reports, and job-related paperwork.
Ensure all works meet electrical standards, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
Attend client sites for installation, commissioning, service work, or fault response, including occasional periods away from home.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Drivers License.
Hold an A-Grade Electrical Licence.
Industrial electrical experience is advantageous, including fault-finding and maintenance, but not mandatory.
Ideally have at least three years' experience in electrical maintenance, industrial systems, or related technical work (automation or controls experience preferred but not essential).
Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, HMI, and automation platforms is beneficial, though full training can be provided.
Competent in reading electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a safe and methodical approach to technical tasks.
Training Pathway Available
Candidates with solid electrical foundations and a genuine interest in automation will receive structured development, mentoring, and exposure to real industrial control projects.
Encode Automation will also support the right candidate through nationally recognised Electrical Instrumentation training (e.g., Cert IV in Electrical Instrumentation or equivalent industry pathway)to progress into advanced automation and controls work.
