The position of Clinical Specialist is available in a gastroenterology service, requiring clinical management and intervention for patients across the facility and endoscopic services. The successful candidate will contribute to cancer care as part of the Hunter New England Local Health District.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical services for inpatients admitted under the Gastroenterology Service and participate in bed allocation, transfer of care, and patient flow in accordance with hospital requirements.
* Offer specialist consultation, including outpatient services.
* Lead junior colleagues to maintain high standards of patient care, based on best practice and evidence.
* Demonstrate a commitment to equity in healthcare delivery.
About You / Qualifications
* Hold a primary medical degree registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology or equivalent.
* Have current gastroenterology practice including endoscopy; ability to adapt to contemporary evidence-based best practice.
* Exhibit capacity for clinical leadership and willingness to contribute to undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and clinical research.
* Understand clinical governance to promote quality and safety, with experience in evidence-based practice.
* Comprehend transfer of care and patient flow principles aligned to community and hospital needs.
* Display strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, including periods of high demand.
