Auxiliary Firefighter Role
The role of an auxiliary firefighter involves providing fire and emergency services to the community in a casual and flexible capacity.
Key Responsibilities
* Responding to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team
* Promoting community safety and emergency preparedness through education and outreach activities
* Developing and maintaining skills through regular training and drills
* Maintaining attendance standards for emergencies and training sessions
* Operating specialist firefighting equipment safely and effectively
* Maintaining station facilities and equipment
* Contributing to incident reporting and administration
Requirements
* Employer consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
* Residence or work proximity to auxiliary fire station
* Australian permanent resident status
What We Offer
Auxiliary firefighters are expected to commit to attending emergency calls, regular training sessions, and obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months. To determine suitability for the role, leadership and management competencies will be assessed, including performance through vision, results, and accountability. The QFES expects all auxiliary firefighters to embody shared values of respect, integrity, trust, courage, and loyalty.
