About the Role:
The Facilities Maintenance Team lead reports directly to and supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing maintenance operations and assumes responsibility during their absence to ensure all school facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
The working hours are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, term time and school holidays. There is a rotating on-call for emergencies.
The key areas of responsibilities include:
* Plan daily/weekly work schedules and allocate tasks to maintenance staff
* Ensure the maintenance schedule remains current, with clear progress updates to colleagues
* Prioritise jobs based on safety, school operations, and instructional needs
* Raise purchase orders
* Diagnose and complete day-to-day repairs
* Coordinate event/setup logistics
Staff Supervision
* Lead, coach, and mentor maintenance staff; provide on-the-job training
* Conduct team briefings; set expectations for safety and quality
* Inspect completed works to ensure standards, safety, and compliance are met
* Manage performance and attendance; escalate issues to the Facilities Manager when required
Qualifications and Experience
* Carpentry qualification or equivalent would be beneficial
* Working at heights certificate is desirable
* Previous experience in completing varied tasks including performing physical work
* Current Working with Children Check
* Current National Police Clearance (dated to within 6 months of your start date)
* Experience working in a school would be an advantage
