Overview
Kickstart your midwifery career in a supportive, inclusive environment at Maitland Hospital. This casual Assistant in Midwifery role supports women, families and midwives in a collaborative team, providing postnatal care (including breastfeeding support and observations), and assisting with birth unit activities such as restocking, data entry into eMaternity, and preparation for caesarean sections.
You will work with the education, management and midwifery team to deliver clinical support and promote safety and quality in the workplace.
Remuneration and location
Remuneration: $26.14 - $28.69 per hour + 12% super + salary packaging

Responsibilities
- Provide postnatal care including breastfeeding support and observations; assist with postnatal care plans.
- Assist in the birth unit with restocking, data entry into eMaternity, and assist with caesarean section preparation.
- Work collaboratively within the team to support women and newborns and promote safety and quality in the workplace.

Requirements
- Enrolled in the Bachelor of Midwifery program at University of Newcastle in second year, first semester or third year.
- Currently enrolled or successfully completed Midwifery Practice & Woman with Complex Care Needs A-MIDI 2105.
