Operations Officer – Wheatbelt Region

Regional and Fire Management Services Division Operations Officer DBCA3148338 PSCA, Level 4, $95,782 - $100,526 plus 12% Superannuation

THIS POSITION IS BASED IN NARROGIN

Located in the Wheatbelt Region, Narrogin lies near the Dryandra Woodland, a valuable nature conservation area. The region is popular with nature lovers for its diverse flora and fauna, walking trails and guided nocturnal tours of the Barna Mia animal sanctuary. We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Officer to join our team.

Responsibilities

* Organise and implement operations, works programs, activities and capital projects across the Wheatbelt.
* Manage day‐to‐day operations of parks and visitor services including park road maintenance, visitor risk management and management of the Barna Mia Nocturnal Wildlife Experience, eco‐education programs and encouragement of visitation of the Dryandra Woodland.
* Monitor and prepare reports on operations and assist with budget preparation and expenditure.
* Liaise with community, key stakeholders and community groups in a positive and informed manner.
* Undertake an active role in prescribed burning and bushfire suppression operations.

Selection Criteria

* Experience in organising and operational implementation of works programs associated with natural land management or a closely related area, plus knowledge of project management in natural settings.
* Evidence of well‐developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with particular experience in liaising effectively with external organisations, government agencies, community and special interest groups.
* Experience, knowledge and skills in leading and managing teams, working effectively as part of a team and independently; and showing a high level of self‐motivation.
* Experience in infrastructure development and maintenance, and budget preparation, control and expenditure of allocated work projects.
