Job Title: Group Manager.
The Position Summary: This is a highly skilled leadership role that oversees the Debt Management business unit within the Revenue Management Division of the ACT Government.
This leader will direct a high-performing team, manage intricate debt matters, and contribute to key compliance and recovery initiatives that support the Territory.
About the Role: Reporting to the Debt Management leadership team, this manager will oversee a team responsible for managing and recovering tax debts while ensuring the integrity of taxpayer accounts. The role combines leadership, operational management, and the application of relevant tax administration legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, coach and mentor a team of Debt Management and Account Administration Officers.
* Manage daily workflows, allocate tasks, and monitor workload across the unit.
* Handle escalations and complex cases, applying sound judgement and strong decision-making.
* Review and authorise complex recovery actions including payment arrangements, garnishees and legal referrals.
* Monitor and report on debt recovery performance, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
* Support the development and implementation of debt recovery strategies and escalation frameworks.
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of taxpayer accounts, including payments, adjustments and reconciliations.
* Provide expert advice on relevant ACT tax legislation and procedural requirements.
