Lowanna College is a vibrant, well-resourced Victorian Government secondary school catering for students from Years 7 to 12. With an enrolment of approximately 1,100 students, the College is set in an attractive bushland environment in Newborough. As the only secondary school in the Moe−Newborough community, Lowanna draws students from both the local area and surrounding rural townships.

Selection Criteria

KSC1 Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks, including delivering instrumental music instruction and supporting students to develop their musical skills and performance capabilities.

KSC2 Demonstrated knowledge, experience and technical expertise in one or more of the following instruments: drums, piano, bass guitar and guitar.

KSC3 Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents/carers, including high‐level interpersonal and communication skills.

KSC4 Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teaching staff and contribute to the planning and delivery of music programs, performances and related activities.

KSC5 A commitment to professional learning and continuous improvement, with the ability to support a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment for students.

No additional attendance is required for this position.

The Instrumental Music Instructor is responsible for delivering high‐quality instrumental music tuition to students in a supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The successful applicant will provide instruction in one or more of the following areas: drums, piano, bass guitar and guitar, supporting students to develop their musical skills, confidence and performance capabilities.

Working as part of the College's broader music program, the Instrumental Music Instructor will deliver individual and small‐group lessons, monitor student progress and encourage participation in performances, ensembles and other music‐related activities where appropriate.

The role requires the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families, fostering a learning environment that promotes student engagement, wellbeing and achievement. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with teaching staff and College leadership to support the delivery of a comprehensive and inclusive music program.

The Instrumental Music Instructor will maintain appropriate records of student participation and progress, contribute to the organisation of performances and events, and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with Department of Education policies, College procedures and child safety requirements.

This position provides an opportunity to inspire students through music education, support the development of lifelong musical skills and contribute to the cultural and co‐curricular life of the College.

Responsibilities
* Deliver instrumental music lessons to individual students and small groups in one or more of the following areas: drums, piano, bass guitar and guitar.
* Plan and implement learning activities that cater for students with varying levels of musical knowledge, skill and experience.
* Support students in developing instrumental technique, music literacy, performance skills and confidence.
* Monitor and provide feedback on student progress and communicate effectively with students, families and relevant staff.
* Encourage and support student participation in performances, ensembles, concerts and other music‐related activities.
* Work collaboratively with College staff to support the delivery of the school's music program.
* Maintain accurate attendance and lesson records as required by the College.
* Assist with the preparation, organisation and maintenance of music resources and equipment.
* Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Department of Education policies, Child Safe Standards and College procedures.
* Participate in relevant professional learning and contribute positively to the College community.
