Your new role:As the Aircraft Assembly Operator, you will be working closely with the assembly team on critical projects within the aerospace/defence industry.Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, you will be responsible for structural builds, working on military aircrafts exhibiting a strong focus on quality in a dynamic environment.Key responsibilities of the role are:Reading and following work instructions / engineering plans, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings being highly advantageous.Drilling and reaming of structural holes, deburring and countersinking.Using pneumatic drills in confined areas (structure drilling).
Using measuring equipment, vernier calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, feeler gauges, surface thickness gauges, depth gauges.Bonding composite parts to metallic surfaces, assembly and bonding of anchor nuts.Final structure assembly incorporating the application of sealants.Using pneumatic nut fasteners, fastener grip length gauges and handheld electric fastener torque runners.Ancillary tasks and assembly processes controlled by work instructions and planning.As an ideal candidate you will have:Strong mechanical background.Experience using hand tools.Strong attention to detail.Ability to follow supervisory direction.Demonstrate proven experience of Work Health and Safety practices.Experience within the automotive industry and or a similar role would be advantageous but not essential.This role is an integral part of a wider team and will involve working safely near others, with minimal supervision.
