Position: Coder/Billing Analyst, Full-Time
Department: Revenue Cycle Billing Operations
This role involves optimizing revenue from off-site Emergency Departments (ED) by reviewing documentation to assign procedure codes and visit levels. Responsibilities include coding diagnoses and procedures, providing feedback on missed charge opportunities, performing charge entry, conducting billing audits, reviewing processes, and staff education. The role also includes assigning outpatient procedural charges for Observation encounters based on chart documentation, in accordance with coding guidelines, policies, and review agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
* RHIT (or eligible), CCS, COC, or CPC certification with at least 60% score on outpatient coding test, OR
* CCA certification with one year outpatient coding experience, including coding ED services, with a 60% score on the test, plus completion of medical terminology and anatomy courses.
Experience and Skills:
* Two years outpatient coding experience, including ED services
* Experience with billing process preferred
* Ability to prioritize, review medical documentation, maintain quality standards, work collaboratively, and ensure confidentiality
* Strong analytical, decision-making, and computer skills
* Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations
Physical Demands: Sedentary work with occasional exertion up to ten pounds of force.
Compensation and Benefits: $21.33/hr - $25.60/hr, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
