About The Role
The role is a 12 months fixed-term part-time position (parental leave cover) based in Hobart, Tasmania on a 3.5 days per week basis (days negotiable). Hybrid working options are available.
This is a hands-on operations role supporting the Executive Leader TAS and International Chapters to keep them running well. You will be the go-to person for day-to-day operations - translating priorities into action, managing key relationships, and ensuring the chapter delivers for its members.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, think practically, and use smart tools - including AI - to solve problems and improve how we work. You will gain direct exposure to governance, member engagement, and strategic decision-making in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
What You'll Do
* Support the Executive Leader TAS and International with day-to-day chapter operations
* Lead delivery of projects and programs across the TAS chapter and International chapter
* Support policy development and implementation
* Build and maintain relationships with members, government officials, industry leaders and key stakeholders
* Represent the Institute at industry events and identify partnership opportunities
* Oversee operations including budget monitoring, resource management and facilities
* Coordinate member engagement activities and member services
* Manage council and committee activities, prepare governance documentation and ensure compliance
What you'll bring
* Proven experience in coordination, operations, project management or stakeholder engagement roles
* Ability to work effectively using tools to solve problems, automate processes and improve efficiency
* Strong practical skills combined with an ability to think strategically
* Experience in member-based organisations, professional associations, government relations or public affairs is valued
* Understanding of governance, committee administration and policy implementation
* Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
* Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and use good judgement
* Tertiary qualifications in public administration, business, law or a related field desirable but not essential
