Muir is a Tasmanian based maritime manufacturing and engineering business which produces world-renowned high-quality anchoring systems for marine vessels across the full range of sizes.

We are looking for a trade qualified CNC Machinist, who is experienced in the metal working industry, familiar with twin spindle machines using live tooling. If this is you, we would like you to join our highly specialised manufacturing team in the production of superyacht anchoring systems. We have fitted some of the world's most famous superyachts with Tasmanian anchoring systems and we are proud of our Australian manufacturing heritage.

The role is primarily focused on the programming, operation and co-ordination of our twin spindle live tooled lathe (Okuma LB3000EXII) which produces highly customised parts for our superyacht and commercial projects. There is also the potential for exposure to work in our broader CNC machining area, as well as some manual machining when applicable.

Main Duties are:

* Programming, operation, maintenance of our twin spindle live tooled lathe
* Programming, operation, maintenance of other CNC lathes and mills - Fanuc Controller
* Produce batch quantity parts in a timely manner, within tolerance to required drawing specifications.
* Make improvements where and as required to the manufacture of components.
* Read and interpret drawings and feedback improvement opportunities to design.
* General housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance around the workshop.
* Upholding, and promoting our commitment to safety in the workshop.

Requirements the successful applicant will need to fill the position are:

* Relevant trade qualification (i.e. metalworking trade qualified Machinist experienced in operating the above-mentioned machine to its full potential).
* Must be able to work within a team environment.
* A desire to work flexibly to ensure safety, environment and production targets are met.
* High-level communication skills, with a proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Sound knowledge in the manufacturing industry (or similar).
* Knowledge or understanding of continuous improvement is desirable, but not essential.
* Self-Motivated with a "can do" attitude.
* Willingness to assist in other areas around the work shop as workflow requires.
* Permanent Australian residency.
