Responsibilities
The Principal Pipeline Designer will be responsible for:
* Performing Design and Engineering process facilities within a specified time while adhering to maintenance, safety, and quality standards, considering constructability, economics, and operation into account during Pre-FEED, FEED, or Detailed Design phases
* Setting priorities, organizing own work and time to meet objectives, and (as Lead Designer) forecasting and planning resource requirements
* Developing 3D Models and ensuring clash-free models in coordination with all other disciplines' requirements
* Ensuring design deliverables are completed and issued per project specifications, McDermott, and project Level 2 & 3 procedures, and within agreed schedules and budgets
* Applying knowledge and/or skills to perform complex work
* Leading the design team to complete tasks within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with standards, McDermott, and project-specific procedures
* Acting as project-based discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with Project Team, Client, vendor/supplier, and/or subcontractor counterparts
* Ensuring that inter-discipline aspects of the design and deliverables are addressed
* Supporting Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress and productivity
* Coordinating all activities within own discipline and interfacing with other disciplines
* Ensuring effective communications among other disciplines and effective management of change
* Coordinating 3D Model Reviews and ensuring Review comments are closed
* Identifying changes to scope and promptly raising change notifications in the Change Management System
* Developing Plant Design and 3D Modelling, Drawings, and input into Plant Layout Narrative in accordance with the agreed Scope of Work, man-hours, and schedule
* Assisting the Lead Piping Engineer in raising technical queries, preparing the piping estimate, and job scope changes
* Attending project Kickoff meetings, Review meetings, Vendor meetings
* Monitoring and coordinating the design team remotely, if required, and leading a project in a Multi-Office Project Execution Environment (MOPEX)
* Able to identify issues as soon as they arise and following up with any required corrective action
* Supporting and supervising less-experienced members within the design team
* Ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with McDermott requirements, Client, and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures with a particular focus on Health and Safety Policies
* Being accountable for the performance and results of a team within the Piping Discipline
* Supporting Proposals and Studies from a Piping point of view
* Exchanging ideas and information effectively, being able to explain difficult concepts, and negotiating with others to adopt a different point of view
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* 10 years minimum experience with a major contractor or consultant, with 5+ years of experience in offshore oil and gas
* Experience as Lead Designer on a small or medium-sized project is essential
* High School graduate with a diploma in Mechanical Design, or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience
* Advanced depth and breadth of expertise in Plant Design and using 3D CAD systems including E3D or SP3D
* Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD
* Good knowledge of other engineering disciplines
* Familiar with the associated local regulatory environment and international and national industry standards and specifications
* Minimum 1 year projects experience in E3D/S3D
* Capable of handling multiple projects
* Knowledge of QA Systems and a good communicator
* Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills
* Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Auto Lisp Programming, 3D Modeling, Menu, and/or Macro compilation skills would be an advantage
* Flexible for business traveling/assignments
