Social Outings Volunteer Opportunity
We are seeking volunteers to assist and guide our members who are blind or have low vision while they are out and about. This role provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life of our members who might be socially isolated or just looking for another adventure to fill their diary.
As a Social Outings volunteer, you will have the chance to engage in relaxed and social activities such as park and garden strolls, visits to museums, galleries, local pubs, and shopping centres. You might chat together, reminiscing and swapping stories, and help create enjoyable experiences for our members.
This is an ad hoc role, which means it may not have regular weekly hours. However, it provides a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and have some fun at the same time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist and guide members who are blind or have low vision during social outings
* Engage in conversations and create a supportive environment for our members
* Participate in various activities such as walking, visiting museums, and shopping
Requirements:
* Ability to work in a flexible and adaptable manner
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Patience and understanding when working with individuals who are blind or have low vision
