Offer description

* Senior strategic leadership role with real impact on health outcomes for Aboriginal remote communities.
* Highly collegial executive team committed to improvement and innovation.
* Strong organisational values centred on community, cultural safety and holistic wellbeing.

Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing comprehensive primary health care to Aboriginal communities spanning vast remote regions within the Katherine West area in the Northern Territory. The organisation is committed to improving health and wellbeing outcomes through a holistic approach that honours spiritual, cultural, emotional and family dimensions of health, and places cultural safety and Aboriginal ways of working at the centre of service design and delivery. Their team is regarded as the organisation's greatest strength and are supported within a safe, collegial and learning focused environment where collaboration, reflection and growth are encouraged. Working in the remote west region of the Northern Territory will challenge your perceptions, broaden your understanding, and shape your future like no other role. A job at Katherine West is much more than a job; it is a life changing experience

Reporting to the Executive Manager Health Services, the Senior Manager Clinical Governance will lead and strengthen quality and safety systems across nursing and allied health services to ensure culturally safe, evidence based, best practice and person-centred care for Aboriginal community members in remote settings. Based in Katherine or Darwin with regular travel to remote communities, you will design, implement and monitor a contemporary Clinical Governance Framework, embed cultural safety principles in all governance processes, and oversee clinical policies, protocols and continuous quality improvement activity. You will support accreditation and regulatory requirements in a way that is practical and meaningful for staff and use insights from data and trends to guide improvement. You will bring structure, cohesion and clarity to how governance is understood and enacted across four remote health centres and the central office in Katherine, ensuring that robust systems support consistently high standards of care.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced senior clinician, such as a Registered Nurse, Senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner or similar with a current AHPRA registration, passionate about creating exceptional clinical practice. This opportunity will suit you if you are culturally humble and genuinely committed to building trust with Aboriginal communities and your team. You are a calm and stabilising leadership presence that creates order, clarity, trust and structure. You have a continuous improvement mindset and comfortable rolling up your sleeves, sometimes completing audits and detailed work yourself and at other times delegating and reviewing, while guiding your team to work in a disciplined, well supported way. You value collaboration, transparency and shared decision making, able to set a high bar for what good clinical practice looks like. Resilient, self-aware and adaptable in remote and cross-cultural contexts, you are willing to travel regularly out bush and play a pivotal role in raising the standard of care delivered across the Katherine West region.

An attractive salary package is on offer, including relocation assistance, temporary accommodation and potential rental support. This role can also be based in Darwin though regular travel to Katherine will be required.
