Overview
Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager for the Anaesthetics Department. This is a permanent full-time role combining clinical and non-clinical work, reporting to the Perioperative Manager to lead the Anaesthetics team in line with hospital strategy, operational processes, budget and business direction.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and direction to the department to align with the hospital's strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business plan.
* Direct the unit's operations to ensure efficient and effective management and coordinate evidence-based nursing care delivery.
* Manage human, financial and material resources and maintain high customer service standards.
* Provide direct patient care as required and mentor less-experienced nursing staff.
* Collaborate with the healthcare team, adhere to Healthscope and site policies and key performance indicators.
* Participate in working parties/committees and drive continuous quality improvement through NSQHS, workplace health and safety, and hospital accreditation.
Essential Criteria
* Current Registration with AHPRA
* Working with Children check
* 4+ years' experience in Anaesthetics and PACU
* Demonstrated experience as in-charge of shifts
* Current or prior ANUM or clinical nurse specialist experience
* Post-graduate degree in relevant specialty area (or actively working towards)
* Sound clinical knowledge
* Compliance with ACQSHC National standards & ACORN standards
* Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills; positive role modelling
* Excellent customer service focus, time management and prioritisation
* Ability to manage a dynamic and changing environment
* High degree of computer literacy including MS Office and various databases
* Previous experience with rostering

* Salary range: based on years of relevant registered nursing experience against the Healthscope/ NSWNMA – NSW Nurses and Midwives' – Enterprise Agreement 2024, approximately $39.09 - $54.89 per hour.
