Mechanical Fitters Production
The role involves executing activities related to the Mechanical outfitting of Naval vessels.
* Installation of Mechanical Components, Power & Propulsion, Combat systems, Machine shop/ in situ machining, Pressure testing, Load out/ Lock out and other tasks associated with the successful delivery of a naval vessel.
* Undertake upgrades and sustainment work on Naval ships that are currently in service.
This position requires production activities within blocks (ship sections), ships, workshops and potential offsite facilities. Key responsibilities include:
* Executing tasks defined as being of a Mechanical function within Production to ensure delivery in line with the Manufacturing Plan.
* Carrying out tasks both on-board the Naval Vessel and also within a workshop environment.
* Interpreting and utilizing complex technical drawings.
* Ensuring time keeping accuracy by booking to correct Job Cards.
* Complying with required Quality and Technical directions contained within Job Card Work scopes and Process Instructions.
* Maintaining all equipment and areas used in a safe and organized manner.
* Understanding and abiding by Safety Policies and associated documentation such as Take 5, Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
* Working on tasks as part of a workgroup and also individually.
* Interacting with other Trade Groups and Business Functions to enable delivery of the Program.
* Undertaking training as deemed appropriate for the role.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
* A trade certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade (Fitting).
* Demonstrated experience as an Mechanical tradesperson.
* A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances.
