Applied Learning Teacher - Flexible Learning Option (FLO)
The GOALS campus of Lavers Hill K-12 College in Colac provides a flexible and tailored education program for disengaged or excluded students in Year 10 and beyond. The campus operates as a Victorian Government Flexible Learning Options School, grounded in positive teacher‑student relationships, trauma‑informed practice, and the Berry Street Education Model.
Location Profile
The campus is located at the heritage site of the original Colac Shire Offices.
Selection Criteria
* SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, incorporation of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs.
* SC2: Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating outcomes.
* SC3: Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice, and providing feedback to students and parents.
* SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
* SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflection on practice, and engagement in professional learning.
Role
The classroom teacher classification comprises Range 1 and Range 2. The primary focus is planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes, with critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills.
Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance, contributing to policy development, mentoring other teachers, supervising student teachers, and using data to inform instruction.
Range 1 teachers develop skills to become effective practitioners, support new entrants, manage classrooms, and may supervise student teachers.
Responsibilities
* Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
* Contributing to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
* Undertaking classroom teaching‑related organisational duties as directed by the School Principal.
* Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
* Undertaking non‑teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Registered or eligible teachers with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach the specified curriculum areas.

Qualification Requirements
* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* Completion of an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on/after 1 Jan 2024, accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority.
* For graduates from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July 2016, passed the LANTITE requirements.
