Overview
Hotel Kununurra is the premier entertainment venue in town for visitors and residents, comprising 49 hotel rooms and 24 camp style rooms. The property in the center of town has two bars, a family restaurant, a drive through Bottle shop and the only TAB facilities in Kununurra.
Live music, sporting events and a regular weekly entertainment schedule make our venue the place to be every day of the week. Hotel Kununurra is an active community member supporting sporting teams and various local organisations.
Your role will be to support and oversee a team of 40 to 50 with a particular focus on the Reception & Front Office teams while also providing daily support to the Venue Duty Managers. The Hotel has a core of long-serving staff at all levels thanks to the current Management team, and the new Assistant Manager will benefit from their experience and passion for the property. You will report to the General Manager and have the support and resources of the Kimberley Accommodation Group Directors and Senior Management team for Finance, HR and Compliance matters.
Kimberley Accommodation owns and operates multiple hospitality operations across the Kimberley region, and as a Family Business have been living and working in the industry here for the last 40 years.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership to a team of 40 to 50, with a focus on Reception & Front Office and daily support to Venue Duty Managers.
* Report to the General Manager and coordinate with Kimberley Accommodation Group Directors and Senior Management for Finance, HR and Compliance matters.
* Oversee multiple revenue departments and contribute to a high‑performing, guest‑focused operation.
* Manage and oversee Occupational Health & Safety procedures and standards.
* Represent and engage with the Kununurra community on behalf of the Hotel and participate actively in community initiatives.
* Report to Senior Management and facilitate regular department meetings.
* Ensure compliance with safety, security and operational policies across the venue.
Qualifications
* RSA and Approved Manager qualifications; Clean Police record; Manual driver's license.
* Excellent computer skills. Deputy, RMS, H&L experience an advantage.
* Experience in an Assistant Manager role overseeing multiple revenue departments, or a Duty Manager role at a significant venue, and readiness to step up.
* Proven ability to lead, develop and mentor a team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
* Experience managing food & beverage operations and developing/operating an entertainment‑focused venue.
* Experience managing Front Office teams within accommodation properties including Night Audit and/or Reception responsibilities.
* Hands‑on management style with the ability to work alongside the team and lead by example.
* Proactive mindset with a track record of achieving KPIs related to wages, stock control, and profitability.
