Electronics – RF/EW Technician
Mellori Solutions (part of the Alkath Group) is seeking an Electronics Technician with strong RF and EW knowledge, and proven practical skills in both hardware and software fault‑finding, particularly across radio frequency and microwave systems.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands‑on technical environments, enjoys complex problem-solving, and wants to contribute meaningfully to sovereign Defence capability.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Testing & Training (SA), you will play a key role in supporting Defence test & evaluation activities, system deployments, and capability development. Responsibilities include:
Operating RF & EW equipment in laboratory and field environments
Conducting system inspections, checks and calibrations in line with specifications
Performing hardware and software fault‑finding, debugging and validation activities
Supporting pre‑deployment planning and preparation
Conducting post‑deployment activities, including reporting support
Providing hands‑on technical input to electronic system design, testing and development
Delivering in‑house operator training materials
Operating and maintaining Through Air Test Systems (TATS) and other deployable systems
Conducting FATs, SATs, installation, validation & verification (V&V) activities
Assisting with upgrades to Defence RF equipment
Developing procedures, test documentation and operating processes
About You
To succeed in the role, you will bring:
Working knowledge of electronics, radio frequency and microwave signal principles
Familiarity with RADAR or EW principles is highly regarded but not essential
Previous experience as an Electronics Technician in a hands-on environment
Good working knowledge of modern RF test equipment (signal analysers, VNAs, receivers, gens, power meters, counters, oscilloscopes)
Demonstrated experience in software-based fault finding, including:
interpreting logs and diagnostics
working with embedded systems or firmware
supporting integration of hardware and software components
using software tools for troubleshooting (e.g., debugging environments, diagnostic scripts)
Willingness to travel for deployments (typically two-four times annually)
Strong technical writing and reporting skills
NV2 Security Clearance (or a willingness to obtain)
