The Role
We are looking for a Registered Nurse, or previous Paramedic, to join our Urgent Care Service. As a vital team member, you will provide high-quality nursing support and ensure all patients that present to the Urgent Care Service are identified as being appropriate for the service, triaged promptly and provided with front line care in collaboration with the Urgent Care Medical Practitioner.
Your Responsibilities:
* Be the first point of contact for patients in urgent care - take charge of triaging every patient who walks through the door with accuracy, empathy, and confidence.
* Conduct thorough and precise nursing triage — quickly assess patient needs and prioritize care to ensure the best outcomes.
* Act decisively in critical moments — identify and escalate emergencies or patient deterioration without hesitation to safeguard patient health.
* Put your clinical skills to work — perform hands-on procedural care such as suturing and plastering, expanding your expertise in a fast-paced environment.
* Thrive in a dynamic, ever-changing setting — demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as you respond to the unique challenges of urgent care.
* Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care — collaborate closely with patients, their families, carers, and medical practitioners to ensure a supportive care experience.
* Help patients reach their health goals — support and guide them toward the best clinical outcomes with your knowledge and care.
* Empower through education — provide essential health information that equips patients to take charge of their wellbeing.
* Maintain meticulous documentation — complete all patient records accurately and promptly to support continuity of care and quality standards.
* Champion workplace health and safety by actively participating in safety initiatives, promptly reporting any incidents/hazards whilst fostering a secure and supportive work environment,
About You
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
* Availability across some evenings and weekends
* Meet the minimum experience level in any one of the following:
* 3 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting or
* 3 years of experience as a Paramedic or
* 3 years of triage experience or
* 3 years of experience in ICU, CCU, Rural or remote nursing.
* A Working with Children's check and National Police check will be required if not already obtained.
* Ability to assess and recognise health deterioration and escalate appropriately.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent attention to detail.
* Can work autonomously and delegate when appropriate.
* A passion for patient-centered care and a personable approach.
