You’ll be supporting male clients with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities who may at times display challenging behaviours. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Behaviour Support Plans (BIS), clients on the autism spectrum with high support needs, and alternative communication methods. Confidence with providing personal care is also essential.
Responsibilities
- Support adults with complex mental health, intellectual and physical disabilities in an independent living model.
- Follow positive behaviour support and care support plans as directed by clinical teams and site managers.
- Encourage capacity building to enhance clients’ current skills, such as hygiene, safe relationships, domestic duties, using public transport and accessing the community safely.
- Promote choice and control and participate in clients’ day-to-day routines, goals, and interests.
Bowral site details
This is a high physical support site, providing care to both male and female clients with intellectual and physical disabilities, including some who use wheelchairs. We’re looking for Support Workers who are confident in delivering personal care with dignity and respect, skilled in manual handling, and able to assist with meal preparation and mealtime support.
Schedule and availability
Both sites work together and require availability to work split shifts, day shifts, afternoon shifts, and sleepovers (5pm-9am).
Requirements and qualifications
- Regular access to your own car and a P2 NSW Drivers Licence or higher.
- Flexible availability across a 24/7 roster (mornings 6am-2pm or 7am-3pm; afternoons 2pm-10pm or 3pm-11pm; sleepover 5pm-9am).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance and Working with Children Check (required).
- If you have lived or worked for a continuous period of 12 months or more in another country within the last 10 years, a certified International Police Check may be required. The offer is conditional on meeting these requirements.
