and is seeking
Expressions of Interest (EOI)
from experienced
Senior Security Systems Engineers (EL1 equivalent)
to support the Australian Signals Directorate's
Cyber Security Remediation Program (CURP)
across multiple Australian Government entities.

Department of Defence / Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) – Government Uplift Cyber Security Remediation Program (CURP)
Locations:
ACT, VIC or NSW (predominantly onsite; limited flexible/WFH negotiable)
Term:
Initial 12 months + up to 2 x 12-month extensions (up to 3 years)
Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week
Clearance:
Existing
NV2 or TSPV
(mandatory – no upgrade sponsorship)
Additional:
Willingness to undertake
ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA)
, including a psychological assessment
What you'll do
You will operate as a
security SME
helping uplift security controls across environments ranging from
Official to Top Secret
, including:
* Designing, implementing and
remediating security controls
in complex ICT environments
* Providing
specialist security engineering advice
across multiple government entities
* Implementing controls aligned to
ASD ISM, Essential Eight
and other industry standards
* Producing and maintaining high-quality
technical documentation
(SOPs, design docs, as-built/as-configured, change requests)
* Participating in and facilitating
security design and remediation workshops
* Prototyping and testing
security configurations
to inform guidance and uplift activities
About you
You have
7+ years' experience
as a Systems Engineer with depth in one or more of:
* Microsoft Active Directory
and complex Windows enterprise environments
* Secure networking / gateways / SDN
* Cross Domain Solutions / Data Diodes
* Sentinel or Splunk
(or similar SIEM platforms)
* Enterprise Linux/Unix
(e.g. RHEL)
* Cloud platforms
– Azure, AWS, GCP or similar (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
And you can demonstrate:
* Strong
written and verbal communication
skills, including documentation and briefings for senior stakeholders
* Ability to
work independently
and in hybrid/remote teams
* Experience
directing others
, setting work tasks and aligning delivery with organisational objectives
A
Bachelor's degree in IT
or equivalent industry training/certifications and prior experience
identifying and implementing security controls
are highly regarded.
