Accounts Payable / Receivable Officer (Senior)

Emeritus Research is looking for a Senior Accounts Payable / Receivable Officer to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of our financial operations. This is a high‐impact position responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of our accounting records while supporting robust financial governance and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About the role:

The Senior Accounts Payable / Receivable Officer is responsible for end‐to‐end transactional accounting across accounts payable, accounts receivable, patient payments and bank reconciliations.

You'll work closely with our trial advancement, operational and clinical teams as well our external stakeholders to ensure financial data is accurate, compliant, delivered on time and all billing and collections are accurate and speedy. You'll also be a trusted finance partner, identifying risks, resolving issues quickly while driving continuous improvement across processes and systems.

What could a typical day look like?

Process supplier invoices with precision, ensuring timely, accurate recording across multiple entities and maintaining tight control over overdue invoices.

Manage daily bank and credit card reconciliations, resolving exceptions within tight timeframes and ensuring supporting documentation is obtained and compliant.

Execute weekly payment runs accurately and on schedule, monitoring cash balances and working with the Finance Manager to manage cash flow requirements.

Ensure accurate and timely billing for clinical trials, reviewing Clinical Trial Research Agreements (CTRAs), budgets, and trial activity to ensure revenue is billed in line with agreed terms.

Process and reconcile participant (patient) payments daily, ensuring compensation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with clinical visit data.

Maintain strong financial governance and compliance, ensuring all transactions adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and Australian accounting standards.

An accounting degree or equivalent (exceptional candidates with relevant experience will be considered).

Microsoft Office skills including Excel and the willingness to learn new systems. Prior experience with Xero is great.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise projects to meet tight deadlines.

High level of attention to detail and good record‐keeping skills.

Ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Strong administrative, numeracy, verbal and written skills.
