About the opportunity
Jetstar is currently recruiting a Technical Specialist based at our Head Office located in Melbourne. As a Technical Specialist you will provide technical support for Airframe and Major Components for our Boeing 787 fleet. This position is critical to ensure the fleet remains compliant with continuing airworthiness and our aircraft continue remain efficient in alignment with business requirements.
This position will be situated within the Jetstar Fleet Technical Management Team where you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and display an ongoing commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Boeing Fleet Technical Manager, responsibilities for this role will include:
- Technically assess service literature from a large range of regulators, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation
- Make strategic decisions on modification programs (based on safety, reliability, and compliance) on the fleet and see them through from initial assessment, pre-planning and post embodiment effectiveness review.
- Support the Reliability Program with detailed system analysis and work with OEM's to introduce strategic programs to improve aircraft system performance.
- Investigate safety critical events and defects in order to find root cause, develop mitigating strategies, and collate sound investigative reports;
- Support the Maintenance Operations Centre and Jetstar Part 145 AMO by providing technical advice, documentation and AOG support when required;
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and actively manage all fleet reliability and safety threats;
- Work with MRO Technical Coordinators to support heavy maintenance checks with technical expertise and advice.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills & experience:
- Qualifications as a Professional engineer (degree) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
- Experience in a similar position or sufficient engineering / aviation experience.
- Ability to communicate & negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Process driven, with experience in constructing new processes to deliver business goals
- Highly motivated with a learning mindset
- Able to build effective working relationships
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of software solutions.
