About Orygen
Orygen is Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health and the largest translational research organisation dedicated to youth mental health in the world.
For over 30 years, Orygen has led groundbreaking early intervention and developed evidence-based models of care to improve the mental health outcomes of young people aged 12-25.
About The Job
We’re looking for a dynamic People Advisor to join our collaborative People, Safety and Wellbeing team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building trusted relationships, providing practical HR support, and partnering with leaders to deliver great employee experiences.
You’ll work closely with managers across the business to provide hands-on advice and support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle—while also helping to shape and embed people-focused initiatives that align with our values and strategic direction.
As the People Advisor, you’ll be a true strategic partner—supporting teams, coaching leaders, and making sure our people processes are smooth, responsive and human-centred.
* Partner with purpose: Work side-by-side with managers to navigate employee relations, performance conversations, change processes and workplace issues with empathy and confidence.
* Own the employee experience: Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, contracts and HRIS updates—making sure every interaction reflects care, clarity and consistency.
* Support safe, healthy teams: Help embed safety and wellbeing practices by supporting incident management, contributing to meetings, and ensuring compliance across the board.
* Champion systems and insights: Manage our HR systems (Employment Hero, Fit2Work), maintain accurate records, and provide meaningful data to drive better decisions.
* Contribute to people-first projects: Get involved in people initiatives, policy reviews, and culture-building activities across our growing organisation.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in human resources management.
* Previous experience as People Advisor with strong client partnership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex people matters, identify risks and opportunities, and deliver pragmatic HR solutions aligned to organisational goals.
* Sound problem-solving ability, confident navigating Awards and EBAs, and can manage sensitive people issues with professionalism.
* Skilled in juggling priorities, you’re organised, tech-savvy (HRIS/Microsoft Office), and ideally have experience in health, NFP or similar sectors.
* Collaborative, adaptable, and values-driven—someone who brings empathy, initiative, a learning mindset, and a flexible, can-do attitude to the team.
Benefits
* Salary of $95,000 base + 11.5% super + NFP salary packaging up to $15,900 + $2,600 meals and entertainment card.
* Ability to purchase additional leave; access to EAP; generous Parental Leave Scheme.
* Support Orygen's mission for youth mental health and contribute to positive social change.
* Enjoy work-life balance with supportive policies for family and personal needs.
* Be part of a team that values collaboration and innovative thinking, driving impactful results.
* Participate in cutting-edge projects that directly impact youth development and well-being.
* Experience a workspace that was thoughtfully created with input from young people, promoting a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
