Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Reporter to join The Age team to source, write, and promote top-quality, high-impact journalism. You will be an integral part of a newsroom that leads the way in readership and subscriber conversion, relentlessly pursuing growth through curiosity and original storytelling. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark at one of the country's most trusted publishing brands while delivering work that has a real, meaningful impact on the Australian public.
Day to day you will:
* Source and write exclusive, high-quality investigative stories for multi-platform publishing.
* Collaborate closely with the investigations team, rounds journalists, and the news director to drive impactful coverage.
* Engage with internal stakeholders, including the visual stories, video, audio and social media teams, to elevate the reach of your work.
* Manage complex legal requirements by working hand-in-hand with our legal team to ensure all reporting is ethical and robust.
* Maintain high production standards and meet strict newsroom deadlines.
* Cultivate external relationships with sources and readers to uncover and deliver impactful journalism.
Qualifications
* Proven track record of delivering exclusive, difficult, and high-impact journalism particularly investigations
* Extensive experience working within a large, fast-paced newsroom environment under pressure.
* Self-starting initiative with the ability to work independently over long-term, complex projects.
* Technical proficiency in cutting-edge digital research skills, including the use of AI tools is desirable.
* Multi-platform expertise, experience in video production and social media engagement will be advantageous.
